Please don’t wait for the government handouts!
Okay, if you’ve read any of my stuff at all, you likely know I’m no fan of the government “helping” people…we’re not a socialist country, and as the former Soviet Union and China have shown us so well, socialism doesn’t work (and it’s funny that The Great Depression was the result of a very socialist concept…governmental stimulation of a recessioning economy…but what do I know?) So you also probably know that I don’t belive that government-sponsored healthcare works, either (let’s face it, people, the Cash-for-Clunkers program ran out of money less than a month in…what’s gonna happen when the government stops handing out what amounts to high-dollar welfare checks?)
I think the best healthcare route would be to let the market decide…did you know that a majority of healthcare costs go toward malpractice insurance and paperwork/red tape overhead? Don’t believe me? Take a look at veterinary medicine…it’s nowhere even close to what you would spend on a human…and don’t give me that “animals are easier” bs…they can’t tell the vet what’s wrong, where they’re hurting, etc…
Wow, I’ve really gone off on a tangent today. Oh well, back to the task at hand lol!
So we already know it’s a bad idea to let the government take care of your health care (and really, if you think it’s expensive now…wait til you see how much “free” healthcare costs you). Unfortunately, the government has screwed capitalism and delayed the inevitable (banks too big to fail? don’t think so), so until we have an overall re-setting of our economy (it’s gonna be worse since we keep propping it up…), you need to make sure you have health insurance. Don’t rely on others to take care of this for you, more and more companies are decreasing benefits…now is not a good time to be sick! (and as we’re moving into cold and flu season, too…) Agents compete for your business; no medical exams are needed, and coverage is available from top rated carriers like Aetna, Cornerstone, UniCare, Humana, and Assurant. It’s a win-win situation for you…I think I even saw AIG mentioned as a carrier, and we all know they’ll be secure for a while…hell, with all our tax dollars going to them already, it’s almost like you’re getting a government handout you have to pay for! (just like “free” healthcare!)
